Deeper Still

This weekend, my sweet and precious friend Emmy, offered me a free ticket to go to Deeper Still. Wow. I have been overwhelmed with listing the details of this weekend, and have not posted simply because I cannot put into words what I heard and saw.

Basically this conference consists of three, dynamic, incredible speakers that came to be used by God to speak a fresh word into their Sisters in Christ. Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, and Priscilla Shirer were a group of speakers that can compare to none other I have heard before. Not to mention, when these 3 ladies get together, they are absolutely hysterical. They seem like 3 old friends that invite you into their camaraderie as if you are their old friend too. ( while 19,000 some odd women are listening in to their discussion.

The worship led by Travis Cottrell and his team was absolutely hand raising. Now I must tell you I was raised Baptist and I am now a proud Presbyterian, but when he and his praise team start singing, I am convinced I am nothing but God's child praising my Lord. I love, love, love it. They have a way of ushering such a large group into the throne of grace. Their song choices and voices have a special way of uniting that many people into a body of ONE!! I learned that he and his group would be in our area on Sunday night, so J and I loaded the family up to go see him.
Travis and his group are phenomenal. ( I hope you will take a few minutes and watch the quick video SS, M's friend put together on You Tube, thanks S.) I wanted my family to witness just a taste of what I experienced this weekend. They seemed to enjoy it, and the little girl's favorite was when they finally sang "Shackles" at the end. Woop-woop!!

Now once the laughter and singing was done at Deeper Still, these 3 women brought God's word like none other. All 3 of these women were so humble in their deliverance. I am amazed at their deliberate attempt to approach their positions with such grace and humility. Priscilla shared on Friday night on Exodus, and Moses and of course the Hebrews in the Wilderness. Her analogies are too incredible to explain, but basically the message was "Why would we want anyone to go get God for us and bring Him to us when we can have Him for ourselves." Remember in Exodus when the Hebrews told Moses to go to the mountain for them, well why to we rely on pastors, teachers, spouses, bible study leaders, and friends to give us our mountaintop experiences when He is right there for US to take? She also explained that it is in our wilderness experiences that we SEE God so much brighter than any other times in our lives.

On Saturday morning, Kay Arthur, taught on I believe Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Isaiah in just an hour and a half. She KNOWS her Bible like none other and I want that!! Her main message was that WE need to know God's word, as WE are God's people. I want that desire to be immersed in HIS Word daily for myself!! The day ended with more praise and worship, then my favorite, of course, Beth Moore. She spoke on John 1:14 "The word became flesh, and made his dwelling among us, we have seen his glory, the glory of the ONE and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." She basically taught the verse word by word and made it real. Just as Christ became REAL flesh among us and is still alive today. Whew.

I left with a headache, my poor little brain just couldn't wrap around all the information. I have been processing it all ever since I left. I am praising God that he ordained that free ticket. I know I was supposed to be at that conference, He spoke to me in so many ways, but my most powerful lesson was that HE wants more of me. ALL of me. And I want more of HIM, He is the ONE and ONLY!!

Wendy, I was there too, with my daughter. It was too much to wrap my mind around too, and taught me so much. What a clear expression you have given it here. I have been reading and rereading my notes the past 3 days! Awesome!

I am KICKING myself for not going. The $$ was an issue, but I think maybe I should've just sacrificed elsewhere to go anyway!!!

I am inspired to go Bible study shopping now, but I don't know whether to go with Beth Moore (done a few of hers before) or dive into a Kay Arthur (never done one of hers) first!

I'm glad you had such a great time...I sinfully admit I am a little (really, A LOT) jealous of your weekend. I went to a Living Proof event last summer and it was life changing.

Check out this great picture of you and Emmy on http://thesiestafiestablog.blogspot.com/2008/06/atlanta-ds-recap-and-some-pictures.html
